The Rural Half-School (RHS)
What is the Rural Half-School (RHS)?
The Rural Half-School is a communications technical assistance, capacity-building, and practical learning community for rural-serving individuals, organizations, and institutions. The Rural Half-School provides practical resources, tools, and learning opportunities that help communities strengthen communication, build organizational capacity, navigate emerging technologies, and support the environments where rural children are raised, learn, connect, and grow.
Why the Rural Half-School?
Children don't only learn at school.
They learn at home, online, through family routines, in libraries, churches, youth programs, neighborhoods, community organizations, workplaces, and everyday life.
The Rural Half-School exists because strengthening those environments means strengthening the people, organizations, and institutions that shape them.
We invite rural community members, healthcare professionals, and advocates to join the Rural Parenting Action Network on MRHA Connect and become part of a growing network committed to advancing Reproductive Justice by strengthening rural parenting and health systems by reaching out to to Aaliyah Bailey, Executive Director, through the contact form.
The Rural Half-School welcomes rural-serving individuals, organizations, and institutions. Join the Rural Half-School on the Causeway, in collaboration with the Missouri Rural Health Association (MRHA).
Please note: We use an expansive definition of parenting to include folks who are in active caregiving roles. Additionally, we understand that although not everyone chooses to engage in an individual parenting journey, we share the universal experience of childhood and are all impacted by the parenting processes and systems in our communities.
All are welcome to lend their voice, experiences and opinions on parenting in their communities.
